1. Agreement
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of Storage Genie self-storage facilities and services. By entering into a storage agreement or using our facilities, you agree to be bound by these terms. Storage Genie (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to amend these terms at any time with reasonable notice.
2. Rental Period and Payment
- The rental period is month-to-month commencing on the move-in date.
- Rent is due on the first day of each month. A debit order will be set up on your behalf.
- A one-month refundable deposit is payable before access is granted.
- No cash is accepted at any Storage Genie facility. All payments must be made electronically.
- Late payments may attract an administrative fee. Storage Genie reserves the right to restrict access for accounts in arrears.
3. Access
- Access hours vary by facility. You must not attempt to access the facility outside published access hours.
- You are responsible for your own padlock and key. Storage Genie does not hold a master key to your unit.
- You must present your ID or access card as required by facility staff.
- Access rights are personal to you and may not be transferred without our written consent.
4. Permitted and Prohibited Items
You may store:
- Household furniture, appliances and personal effects.
- Business documents, stock and equipment.
- Vehicles (where the facility offers this, subject to separate agreement).
You may not store:
- Flammable, explosive or hazardous substances.
- Illegal items or stolen goods.
- Perishable food or live animals.
- Any item that poses a risk to the facility, other tenants or the public.
5. Insurance
Storage Genie does not provide insurance for goods stored in our facilities. You are responsible for insuring your own goods against loss, theft and damage. We strongly recommend that you obtain adequate insurance cover before moving in.
6. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Storage Genie shall not be liable for any loss of or damage to goods stored in our facilities, except where such loss or damage is caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Our liability is in all cases limited to the monthly rental paid.
7. Termination
- You may terminate your agreement by giving written notice before the 15th of the month, effective at the end of that month.
- Notice given after the 15th takes effect at the end of the following month.
- Storage Genie may terminate your agreement immediately if you breach these terms, fail to pay rent, or store prohibited items.
- Upon termination, you must remove all goods from the unit by the last day of the rental period. Abandoned goods may be disposed of at your cost.
8. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
