About POPIA
The Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”) is South Africa's primary data protection legislation. It regulates how organisations collect, store, use and share personal information about South African citizens and residents. Storage Genie (Pty) Ltd is committed to full compliance with POPIA.

Personal Information We Process
In the course of providing our services, Storage Genie processes the following categories of personal information:
- Full name and identity number or passport number
- Contact details (email, phone, physical address)
- Banking details for debit order processing
- CCTV footage recorded at our facilities
- Access logs and entry/exit records
- Records of correspondence and complaints
Lawful Basis for Processing
We process personal information on the following lawful grounds as defined by POPIA:
- Contractual necessity: To fulfil our obligations under your storage agreement.
- Legal obligation: Where processing is required by law.
- Legitimate interest: To operate secure facilities and protect the property of our clients.
- Consent: For marketing communications, where you have opted in.
Your Rights as a Data Subject
Under POPIA, you have the following rights:
- Right of access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: You may request that inaccurate or incomplete information be corrected.
- Right to erasure: You may request deletion of your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations.
- Right to object: You may object to the processing of your personal information for direct marketing purposes at any time.
- Right to complain: You may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator if you believe your rights have been infringed.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To submit a data subject access request or exercise any of your rights under POPIA, contact our Information Officer:

We will respond to all requests within 30 days of receipt, as required by POPIA.
